How you arrive

Family visit

A relative in the city is not automatically the person who should sit in the consult. The useful person can repeat what the doctor said, in the language the patient uses at home.

Assign the interpreter on purpose

Families often assume the cousin who lives in Shanghai can handle the hospital. Sometimes that cousin can. Sometimes they will soften a sentence you needed to hear plain, or they cannot leave work at 7:30 in the morning. Ask them, with the date, before you put their name on the plan. A hired interpreter has a different job: repeat, not decide.

Hospital apps, gate codes, and payment still break for a visitor with no local number. If your relative already has the apps, decide whether they are willing to pay and be paid back, and what the receipt must show. Do not discover this at the cashier.

What to agree before the first morning

  • Who speaks to the doctor, and who stays quiet.
  • Who is allowed to hear the result. Say it out loud if the family disagrees.
  • Where you sleep. A family apartment can be the right base or the wrong one if it is ninety minutes from the hospital.
  • What happens if the hospital adds a day. Whose plans move.
