Treatment
Dental implants
An implant is often two trips. The first is imaging, a plan, and sometimes placement. The crown waits on healing. Ask which of those is actually on this visit.
- Usual cityGuangzhou, sometimes Shanghai
- This visitConsult, or placement — name it
- Often laterA return trip for the crown
- Poor fitPain and swelling you are already flying with

Ask which visit this actually is
People arrive expecting teeth and leave with a plan, or they arrive for a plan and are offered placement the same week. Both can be reasonable. Neither should be a surprise at the chair. In the first email, write what you think this visit is for, and ask the clinic to correct you in writing.
Bring the recent panoramic film if you have one, and the name of any implant system already in your mouth. A clinic that cannot say which system it uses, or what happens if the bone is not enough, is not ready for your dates.
The second trip is part of the price
- Healing time before a crown is a clinical decision. Do not let a fare sale set it.
- A temporary tooth and a final crown are different fees. Ask which one this quote covers.
- If a graft is likely, the city stay gets longer or the placement moves to a later visit.
- Pain that is already keeping you up is a reason to be seen where you are, not a reason to add a flight.
What this desk can line up
- A first visit that is honest about consult versus placement
- Hotel nights matched to swelling, not to sightseeing
- An interpreter for the consent conversation
What the clinic decides
- Bone, graft, system, and whether to place now
- The fee and what a complication costs
- When the restoration visit can happen
