Recovery days are part of the procedure
A consult, a day you are allowed to change your mind, the procedure, and the early checks are four different uses of a calendar. Swelling, drains, and a review visit do not care that your hotel is non-refundable. Build the flight from the surgeon’s restriction on flying, not from the cheapest fare.
We will not tell you which surgeon is best. A website cannot see your photographs, your last operative note, or the complication you are worried about.
Revision cases need the original operative note and, when it exists, the implant record. If you do not have those, the first trip may only be a consult. Treat that as a success, not a failed week.
What has to be true before you fly
- You have had a consult, in person or on a call where the surgeon — not only a coordinator — spoke.
- You know which nights you must stay, in writing.
- You know who you call if something looks wrong on day two.
- A companion can be in the city if you will not be steady on your own.
- You are not treating this as a holiday with a procedure tucked in.
